Producing everything locally is the commitment
of Le Slip Français. But to reinvent the French textile
industry sustainably, we wanted to go beyond the thread
and even produce the raw materials in France.
So we had a look
around us and
So we had a look around us and
On his back we found merino wool thanks
to which the Ludo was born, our first natural
colored sweater made of 100% French wool.
Today, the Ludo is available in 2 more colors,
brown and marine blue: Whatever your
taste or your favourite color, from
now on you can shine with
this simple design.
I want to know everything about these lovely wool pullovers
Keep me informed,
I want this beautiful pullover.
Today, 80% of the wool sheared in France is sold in China, at a loss, simply to minimise the cost of shearing. A loss of income for the breeders, and an abundance of material not used by French producers.
The objective of Le Slip Français and our partner Made in Town is to enhance the value of the French wool industry and its flocks of sheep (the largest in Europe) by putting farmers in contact with local brands.
Since the sheep elsewhere were bad tempered, we chose the soft merino wool from the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. There, hundreds of sheep frolic between fields of lavender and the sounds of locusts. Every year, they are sheared for their well-being, and the wool is recovered.
Just as warm bread smells super fresh, fresh wool smells like happy sheep. It is therefore sent to Mirabeau to be cleaned and then sorted by category according to the parts of the body from which it comes.
The wool must not only be cleaned but it must be washed with care. For now, the Slip hasn't found anyone in France for this stage and has called on friends in Belgium. So don't be surprised if your jumper has a bit of a belgian accent.
In Castres, a yarn manufacturer receives the clean wool and sorts it according to the natural shades of colour. It is then twisted to form a thick and resistant yarn. The two blue and red stripes in the collar are made from recycled wool from the same manufacturer.
30km away from Regain's, the wool is finally knitted in its natural colours and assembled to become a Ludo, a pullover true to nature.
